Guess what???

DSCN2007

I’m staying in Perth! With Sister Smith!!! It’s gonna be a fun time! We are excited to be together some more in this wonderful city.

This week was blazing hot! It was in the 90’s. Crazy, I know, and no one in this country has AC to cool their houses because they never need to use it. It was soooo hot, but it was good. It reminded me of home. Love Texas!

We did get sick again though… sad. We had some bad food or something. Other than that, it has been a normal, amazing week. 🙂 Nothing out of the ordinary happened.

We had an amazing pday adventure on Monday–we went to a castle!!! There are some fun pictures of that.

I gave a talk yesterday at church. I have been studying a lot about Zion, how to become a Zion people, and build Zion around us. 4 Nephi is so good at showing us the attributes of a Zion people and showing us the opposite of Zion, as they start falling away from the teachings of Christ. I encourage you to look at that and pray to find ways you can have heaven around you and those you love.

I love ya’ll–to the moon and back!

This week is moves–what do you think will happen?

Hey! Hey! Hey!

What a wonderful week it has been!

There has been a lot of liquid sunshine (aka rain), but we still had an amazing time! The Lord has reached out in love to me in so many simple ways this week. On Tuesday we went to Aberdeen for a missionary conference. After we were in the train station, I see this amazing beautiful girl I love. Of course, there was squealing all around. The other missionaries were probably surprised by all the fanfare as I ran to hug one of my favorite recent converts, Sabine! Yeah, the one and only! God is good. Then we have been fed and loved by so many of the wonderful members of Perth. Our investigators Kevin and Julie still came to church yesterday even though they were sick. They are such wonderful troopers. I love them. God is good. Then a family in the branch, the Powell’s, had the biggest surprise of all to top it all off. On Sunday, we were being retrieved by them to have dinner at their home and out from behind the car jumps an angel, aka Fay Weber, my old companion! I just about died of happiness! It was amazing! They had been really good at keeping this a surprise from me so we had a wonderful night. God is so good.

The missionary conference this week was so good. As a result of this conference, I have been reflecting a lot on charity and “Cheerfully doing all things that lie in our power” (D&C 123:17). It is so amazing the ways and opportunities God gives each of us to learn charity. And the key to learning charity is to serve. I have been blessed my whole life with opportunities to serve. From day one the Lord has blessed us with families to serve among and learn from. He gives us mothers in which we have an amazing example of charity (thanks mom!) I’m so grateful that every day I get to show the Lord’s love for His children by cheerfully doing. I love that. What is a better way to show love, than doing cheerful service!

So please find ways to be “cheerfully doing all things.” This will truly bless your life!

Love ya’ll!

Master Oogway has a lot of Wisdom!

We have quoted so much Kung Fu Panda this week. It is crazy! Most used quotes this week…..

“No matter what you do, that seed will grow to be a peach tree. You may wish for an apple or an orange, but you will get a peach.”

“Quit, don’t quit… Noodles, don’t noodles… You are too concerned about what was and what will be. There is a saying: yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present.”

These quotes are very applicable to missionary work. We often like to change the words to apply to our situation.

Examples:

“No matter what you do, that person may not want to learn the gospel. You may wish for an investigator or a baptism, but you will get a rejection.”

“Teach, don’t teach…baptize, don’t baptize…”

“Lunch, don’t lunch…noodles, don’t noodles…”

As you can see, these are very good quotes. I exhort you to apply Kung Fu Panda’s wisdom to your life. 🙂

Obviously with mottos like these, this week was very good and we had lots of fun. “It’s not missionary work, it’s missionary fun!”

We have had a lot of success this week while knocking doors. It is amazing how Heavenly Father has blessed us with a lot of ice cream. We met another family that has asked us to come back this week and we are very excited to see them again.

Something I have found that has, I think, made us more successful is praying often and specifically while doing His work and remembering to thank Him when we are blessed with anything, to say thank you as soon as we receive the blessing. I think that as we show our gratitude towards the blessings He has given us, we will be blessed with so much more.

I love ya’ll and miss you!

Talk to you next week!

Love,

Another Week in Perth

DSCN1918

This week Heavenly Father gave us a huge bowl of ice cream just to say “I’M STILL HERE!”

It was great! This week was full of sunshine and all things good! Literately, sun. All week. No rain. And I’m in Scotland!

Miracle of this week! Drumroll…

Kevin and Julie agreed to be married and baptized. We are going to have a wedding baptism celebration!!! It’s gonna be the best. We love those two. They read the Book of Mormon every day and just are rocking it. Yesterday at Church,  a member asked if Julie would be back next week and she said, “I’m addicted now. I can’t stop!” They are the cutest. Love them to pieces!

Sorry I don’t have much to say other than that. This week I have been thinking about the recent talk by Elder Sabin and thinking about how small investments now can help save ourselves in the future. You all should look that up and read it!

Love ya’ll,

Week 6 in Perth

Hey People of Earth!

Wait what? I’m on earth, or am I? For all we know, this is all a strange dream and I’m actually a being that is cryogenically frozen in some crazy planet of space…. maybe? No. Not true. I’m 100% sure that I am an earthling just like you. My siblings may disagree, but it’s fine. Don’t believe them. 🙂

This week seems like it was forever, but also like it didn’t happen…. strange feeling, right? Yeah, it is.

Some highlights of the week:

We have awesome investigators, Kevin and Julie. They love the Gospel and are so prepared. They watch church media and fall asleep listening to the Book of Mormon. A missionary couldn’t ask for better.

Miracle of the week. We have had some good, wholesome, beautiful, sunshine!!!!

Funny story–On Tuesday we were coming home from district meeting in Kirkaldy. We were at the train station and this person sits next to us and we get chatting about what we are doing and they are asking questions about what Mormons are, so we basically teach a lesson on the Restoration. And we were like, what is going on? This is awesome! Then I look over and see on his phone that he has the Book of Mormon app open and he is a member of our church who was totally pulling our leg. Haha. We laughed, then talked a bit more 🙂

Love ya’ll
